This contest really struck a note with me because my birthday falls on Valentine's Day - and I HATE IT! My mother always complains that she struggles to find a nice birthday card for me because the shops are full of valentines. My lovely but unromantic husband buys me sad flowers from the supermarket because the ones at the florists have had their prices inflated. We rarely go out to dinner on my birthday because even though we've been married for many years, my husband never remembers to make reservations in advance and so every restaurant is full up with courting couples by the time he thinks about it. I could go on, but I may end up weeping. Cupid really is stupid.
