By Shirley Blundell

I am retired and my main passion is digital art followed by quilting . Once I discovered Spoonflower I could see this as the next step in joining these two interests together.

Chose 5 of my flower photographs to use to design this cheater quilt block.Digitally altered and color substitutions made according to color palette

My attempt to create a cheater quilt with color limitations. Found it a lot more difficult to do than I imagined. The next competition I enter like this I shall allow more time. A large scale design. Could be smaller if desired. Forgot to mentiom that it is a type of quilting called Stained Glass Quilting.

koalalady says: My memory of doing this quilt is cloudy. I think I had considerable difficulty with it but have put all that behind me I hope. Thanks for the nice comment about it Kim - I haven't loved it well enough myself.:-)

krussimages says: Terrific use of photographs incorporated seamlessly in your "cheater" quilt, Shirley. Beautiful!

koalalady says: Hi Julie, I appreciate your thoughtful comments and although I had thought to use the blossoms again I may not have done so but for your comment. As for the drawing for contests I am thrilled if a contest matches something in my photo file! Cheers.

cjldesigns says: The blossoms on the top of the quilt are especially pretty, they would make a lovely yardage design on their own as well! Great idea to digitally alter your photos!

rhondadesigns says: The stained glass patchwork style of your layout is a lovely way to frame your pretty floral motifs, Shirley. I can see some lovely cushions, tote bags and tablemats being made from this sweet design!
