Description:

A scarf square strewn with thyme and sprinkled with Love-in-idleness!

"Yet mark'd I where the bolt of Cupid fell:
It fell upon a little western flower,
Before, milk-white, now purple with love's wound,
And maidens call it love-in-idleness".
A Midsummer Night's Dream (Act 2, Scene 1).
William Shakespeare

I hand rolled mine the edges on this but it could be done by machine...
if you need a little help with the sewing this visual aid will help - originally done for the knitting needle tidies but the mitred corners are equally applicable here: HOW TO MAKE TIDIESr

rhondadesigns says: This beautiful design looks lovely made up into a scarf, Moira! When I was looking at the design, it occurred to me that a quilt adorned with these pretty Love-in-Idleness flowers would be perfect for a picnic quilt to recline upon and enjoy a romantic Valentine's Day meal ... even if it was indoors in front of the fire for those folk who live in chilly climes!

moirarae says: Close-up of the middle of the scarf - shows how the little rosettes of thyme face inwards.

moirarae says: I'm glad you like it, I did it because I felt that a scarf needs to be light and airy - a solid border with no relief seemed somehow too, heavy!

fireflower says: I like the way you broke the border edging with the thyme sprigs!
