1936 was probably no fun to live in (mostly because there was no way to know when the unemployment and dust bowl conditions would ever end, let alone the Third Reich) but there is no doubt it was a gorgeous era for the common arts and graphics. This arching and criss crossing geometric design (which most people will probably interpret as flowers) takes its soul and inspiration from the look of Great Depression textiles and commercial arts (such as dishes and trays, etc). If I had my choice in these things, I would never vacation at a destination. I would stay right where I was and visit another time. Alas, that's not possible so all I can do is draw what I might have seen on that vacation. (file h11a3-ch, #2156993)
