In Darwin, where I live, the beginning of the dry season is heralded by the sudden arrival of hundreds of dragonflies. They come in a variety of stunning colours and have become a symbol for many things, including the Darwin City Council and the Dragonfly Craft Fair, which is held during the dry each year.

I recently designed and constructed costumes for a play set in Darwin, called 'The Lion Tamer'. Each of the four characters was assigned a creature that described something about them, and these motifs were worked into the costumes. Unsurprisingly, one of the character's 'totems' was a dragonfly, and I designed this fabric to make a skirt for her.

Because this fabric was designed for stage, the dragonflies are quite large - about 20cm across. If you'd prefer to purchase the design with the dragonflies at a smaller scale, please message me and I will gladly reduce the size for you.
