Bell flowers and japonica, after an 18th century Japanese woodcut. The light, neutral tans enhance a naturalistic theme while still being delicate. Classic style.
This floral illustration from an old woodcut was found in a book about mountain grasses from Japan. The book is from the Edo period (early 19th century) and held by the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. I cleaned up the illustration, colored it, and redesigned it for a repeat. It looks smashing!
What we do and how we do it.
