About the Design

A printed, colorchanged imitation of the golden brocade that was used on Queen Margareta's gown,

which is now in the Uppsala cathedral in Sweden.

This is a printed, colorchanged (blue/silver instead of the original reddish purple / gold coloring (http://www.spoonflower.com/fabric/1703754), which I have at my store as well) imitation of the golden brocade that was used on Queen Margareta's gown, which is now in the Uppsala cathedral in Sweden. If you're not familiar with the original gown, I encourage you to read this (http://www.virtue.to/articles/margaret.html) and this (http://www.personal.utulsa.edu/~marc-carlson/cloth/uppsala.html) page. Please switch the view to the 'Swatch' size (by selecting it from the dropdown box) to see the details! Note that while the design looks metallic, it's actually of course not. It's just printed with regular, non-metallic colors to make it look as if was metallic. I recommend to have this printed on either the Organic Cotton Sateen or on the Cotton silk. The Cotton Silk is shinier (compareable to Dupioni silk); the Cotton Sateen is not as shiny but still has an appealing sheen. The colors will print well on both fabric types. In case of doubt, please order a swatch. I'm also offering this design in the original reddish purple / gold coloring (http://www.spoonflower.com/fabric/1703754). The repeat is 12x21 inches on fabric, wallpaper and wall decals. In case you would like to order any of the designs I offer in different colors or at a different scale, please don't hesitate to send me a message! Please also see my other Medieval / Renaissance / Tudor / Elizabethan / Jacobean designs in my 'Medieval / Renaissance / Tudor / Elizabethan / Jacobean' fabrics collection (http://www.spoonflower.com/collections/20669)! If you were always wondering how different colors print on the various fabrics that Spoonflower offers, please do have a look at my website where I have quite a few comprehensive photos of color swatches printed on various fabrics!
