About the Design

A design in the style of the background of Japanese Sashiko embroideries - a background that

imitates yarn-dyed indigo fabric.

This is a design that imitates the background of Japanese Sashiko embroideries, which actually aren't 'embroideries' as in 'just decorative', but a way of mending and recycling torn clothes. This background imitates yarn-dyed indigo fabric, with the typical, slightly irregular, greenish-blue weave. As for the sashiko embroideries, those are missing on this particular design. It is, however, part of my entire collection of Sashiko designs (http://www.spoonflower.com/collections/26993), of which all except this particular design do have the embroideries in lots of various traditional Japanese patterns. In case you would like to order swatches of those designs, the Sashiko design sampler (http://www.spoonflower.com/fabric/1583408) is a very good alternative to 'regular' swatches - it has all my Sashiko designs on one yard of fabric - that design is also available printed on many other products on Cafepress (http://www.cafepress.com/PhantasmDesigns/10139354?aid=110890528) as well as on Zazzle (http://www.zazzle.com/bonniephantasm/gifts?cg=196064189189353758&rf=238791567683211815)! If you would like to order this or any of the other designs in my store at a different scale or in different colors, please don't hesitate to send me a message - that's all it takes to make that happen at no additional costs. If you were always wondering how different colors print on the various fabrics that Spoonflower offers, please do have a look at my website where I have quite a few comprehensive photos of color swatches printed on various fabrics!
