About the Design

This design is a reproduction of a typical Rococo skirt embroidery.

This design is a reproduction of a typical Rococo skirt embroidery. Skirts or aprons with a design like this would have been worn with regular bodices, caracos or Pet-en-l'airs. The repeat of this design is 59 inches - that's a bit less than two yards (!). Click the radio button for '2 yards' on the right to see the full repeat. Please also have a look at the 'Swatch' size to see the details - the Spoonflower preview for larger repeats is always blurred, and the 'Swatch' size preview is the only preview that at least vaguely shows the details. In case of doubt, please order a swatch to see that my design is not blurred at all when printed! A typical embroidered Rococo skirt will require about 3-4 yards of fabric, by the way. In case you're not familiar with Spoonflower; note that this fabric is not really embroidered. It's a printed fabric of which the design imitates embroidery.. Just found it safer to mention this ;-) This fabric works well if you need 'the look', but don't need it to be historically accurate (which only real embroidery would be). Like with almost all my other fabrics, I recommend ordering this design in either Organic Cotton Sateen or Cotton Poplin or - if you desire a more shiny look - the Cotton Silk, since colors will print brightest on those fabric types. I'm offering this design with white, red, green, blue and gold background - have a look at my Rococo Reproduction Fabrics (http://www.spoonflower.com/collections/19519) collection to see all of them. Also, my "Green Wave Brocade" (http://www.spoonflower.com/fabric/1131717) design works exceptionally well with this design, in case you should need a different fabric for a matching bodice - the background color on the 'Green Wave Brocade' can, without problems or delay, be changed at request by me in case you require this. If you were always wondering how different colors print on the various fabrics that Spoonflower offers, please do have a look at my website where I have quite a few comprehensive photos of color swatches printed on various fabrics!
