This design is interlocking rings on the regular grid of hexagons or equilateral triangles. Each ring just touches its neighbours on the outside and the inside. Currently displaying a version in bright mardi gras colours of purple, gold and green with shading and black outlines on a pink background. With this 3-fold colouring scheme you lose the hexad symmetry but retain some triads.
