About the Design

This design is supposed to imitate the fans brocade fabric that was used on the cloak which is worn

over Padmé's Travel gown.

This design is supposed to imitate the fans brocade fabric that was used on the cloak which is worn over Padmé's Travel gown. Note that it's a railroaded repeat, which means that it runs along the length of the fabric. If you order this as one of the wider fabrics (like Organic Cotton Sateen, which I recommend), you can cut the fabric for the cloak 'sideways' along the fabric (opposed to length-wise). Three yards, by the way, should be enough to make the cloak. I've digitized the embroideries from photos of the original gown, embroidered those with my embroidery machine and then used photos of those embroideries to create this ditigal fabric. So while it LOOKS like embroidery, it's "just" printed, mock embroidery. This design SEEMS extremely dark on screen but prints much lighter, in a navy-purple shade. The overall size of the pattern is very close to that of the original gown and was calculated using proportional measuring of the actresses' real height compared to a full-length photo of the original dress. A coordinating fabric for the base of the dress, the cape and cuffs with a large-scale medaillon embroidery, a 'bubbles' fabric for the sleeves and a 'plain' fabric for the hood are available at my Spoonflower store (http://www.spoonflower.com/profiles/bonnie_phantasm) as well; you can find them easiest by browsing my themed fabric collections (http://www.spoonflower.com/profiles/bonnie_phantasm?filter_action=collection&info_action=&nav_action=all&shop_selection=all_collection&sub_action=new_profile), then select the "Travel dress" collection. This fabric, if you want to replicate the original gown, works best in Cotton Poplin or Organic Cotton Sateen. This fabric (since the print only shows on one side of the fabric) will have to be lined with a matching lining fabric. In case you would like this fabric in a different color scheme, don't hesitate to send me a message! If you were always wondering how different colors print on the various fabrics that Spoonflower offers, please do have a look at my website where I have quite a few comprehensive photos of color swatches printed on various fabrics!
