This design is a basic logarithmic spiral snail tessellation. This is what I sent my mother(s) on a card one Mothers' Day - to deal with all the flowers that other people would be sending them. That time all the snails were individuals (being hand-coloured in a range of tones on the shells and on the bodies with their emerging eye-stalks).
