My contest entry for the "Arrows" contest, October 2012.
When my eldest grandson was about 3, he was fascinated by arrows. We had to cut them off boxes & packages to put in his notebook. So I created this design for the gift cards for his Christmas, and he knew exactly whose present he found. I've since made it into gift paper, and now I'm thinking it would look good in his quilt.
The bright colors do not show up quite as brightly on the fabric swatches, but then, the black doesn't show up as black as it does on paper, either, so it's probably at least partly a matter of less contrast.

Thank you, Melanie and Marianne, for the kind words! This design always cheers me up, and I'm pleased you like it, too.

An awesome pattern, and a very sweet story!! :D I can understand why your grandson likes arrows so much, there's something about them that's just so cool .... :D
Looks fantastic made up into the pillow and such a lovely story behind the design!

Thank you, Amy! I think they turned out quite well, and the recipients were pleased. I let them be their own gift-wrapping, and just tied a golden ribbon around the middle, to hold the gift card. It was very festive-looking under the tree :-D
Love all your pretty pillows!
Theron's Arrows on Black is at the center on the left. These are the first ten of the pillows I've made for my family for Christmas, from my FQ sale bounty.

Looks great Sue Ellen! Love the brights and the interplay between colours that lend a lovely movement.

Thank you, Isabella. I never thought of it in black and white, but it sounds like it would be fun to try! I did do a version with a white background, which I also like quite a lot: http://www.spoonflower.com/fabric/996336
I like the fun colours you've used for this well done pattern. I also like the pattern of shapes I see when I focus on the negative space. I bet this would look great in black and white, too!
Bold, bright and beautiful! Enjoyed reading the story behind the design too.
Thanks for the kind words, Rhonda. "Left, Right or Straight Ahead" is not a game with which I'm familiar, but it sounds like fun. You always have something new to teach me!
This eye-catching design reminds me of the game of "Left, Right or Straight Ahead", that we used to play with the kids when we would go for a "drive and explore" expedition when they were young. I enjoyed reading your description Sue Ellen. The print would be great to include in an "Eye Spy" quilt.
My family all seem to like this design; my husband even requested it on a travel coffee mug for last Christmas. So I decided to enter it in the "Arrows" contest.
Thanks, Amy! I love how fabrics and designs can carry memories :-)
