Two floating layers of meshed gears/cogs on the regular square lattice.
Two floating layers of meshed gears/cogs on the regular square lattice. With only even numbers of gears in each connected subgroup, the gears in such a network would be capable of turning - half clockwise and half anticlockwise. Currently displaying a 2" repeat in dark shades of grey on black. Other colours, stylings, sizes and orientations are available on request and you can even ask for a combination of several designs together.

The depth of field illusion was deliberate for that reason. With a different design I added even more layers for the "wheels within wheels" look (though that one didn't involve wheels at all!).

reminds me of the Antikythera mechanism ...like the depth of field, looks subtle and complex
