As a very small child I learned embroidery, and crochet from my mom and grandmother. That started my love of textiles and collecting what ever bits and pieces I could find and use. I have sown doilies together for dresses and even did a top and bellbottom number back in the day. We were poor and I made many of my own clothes in my teen years growing up late 60's early 70's. I was able to use crochet and embroidery in my fashions in a "mod" way that didn't make me feel like a poor girl but someone a bit fashion forward. Teaching the wee ones skills can be so rewarding in so many ways. If they take to it it will keep them occupied for hours on end while you tend to other necessities. This is fine Irish crochet painted red for a new look.
