This design is in rembrance of the beauty of the Rose Window that has been destroyed by recent earthquakes in Christchurch. Based upon the view through the Rose Window at the Christchurch Cathedral at the heart of the city, the stain glass elements are made up from the central city map grid (now largely abandoned due to unstable buildings) and the background is inspired from the beautiful tiling on the roof of the Cathedral which from what I have seen in photos look relatively untouched. This design has been hard, Christchurch is my hometown and large parts of the city and surrounds are not there anymore, I wanted to create a design that was representative to the beauty and significance of the Rose Window and Cathedral.
Destroyed but not forgotten, Rose Window Christchurch Cathedral
