Enlarging definitely worked - I can see the steps clearly from the swatch view, and the path details.

It took me a lot of reprints to get the colours on this to work so that the steps up the sloping sides would be visible. I ended up enlarging everything a bit.
I still really like this and the colors are lovely, also those for the path design from the link.
Incidentally, I was also considering an underwater version (ie after their mythological apocalypse) with sea critters sitting on and floating in front of things. But, unfortunately, that won't fit with the latest ditsy contest requirement.

I was going with the "mysterious cities of gold" (and silver!) angle. But sandstone (in various colours) really was a popular building material and other pale stones often seemed to be preferred over dark ones for construction projects.
So witty and funny! Love all the details - especially as revealed in "Peek at detail" - the steps! the paving! I just love the entire concept of this as a cityscape, and your tongue-in-cheek description of what was "in vogue globally" at the time! I also really like your colour scheme because you do see a hint of the steps on that lovely yellow.
