Eagle feathers marching off to war or just around the parade ground while pen feathers dance and communicate. Entry in the Feathers Contest.

Masculine eagle feathers in a rigid formation in the foreground blend with the background feminine 'pen' feathers of the creative and connective arts (e.g. drawing, letter writing). The masculine aspect also references use of Japanese mon to identify the sides in battles and thus minimise (so-called) 'friendly fire'.
Art pen, chalk and Japanese mon stencil, basic repeat.

Thanks Rachel and Michelle for your interesting & helpful comments, much appreciated.
really interesting design between foreground and background....colors and repeat are great!
A very well balanced design, I love the colours and the masculine and feminine elements together, excellent :)
Thanks Patricia, Isabella and Rhonda for the nice comments on this design,it really means a lot to me - I can't tell you how much!
Thank you for reminding me of the inspiring Japanese mon. I spent hours cutting circle stencils inventing radial designs. Your descriptions of your sources and processes are a gift. I appreciate the desaturated tones of your design. To me they are soft on the eye, matching the softness of the feathers chosen.
There's lots of visual interest in this. Great work!
You have created an attractive feathered design, Su! It has a lovely balance between the elements of colour, shape and texture.
Thanks so much for the compliments, made my day!
awesome. love! xxx
When I look at a painting and it keeps the eye flowing through it, then I consider it as having a lot of interest. This design keeps my eye flowing through it. I especially love the floating feathers drifting down. Fun design.
This is such a dynamic design -- I love your description of combining the masculine and feminine elements, because it really does have both a strength and a softness that's unusual in fabric designs.
