"There was a story in the moon,
and the forest waited patiently
for the play to begin"
The story in the moon is image of the home of Little Women of course, Orchard House. Louisa May Alcott was known to create plays in her home with her sisters. Just like the in the book, Little Women, Orchard House held so much imagination and enchantment.
This 2012 Wall Calendar was designed to be centered on a fat quarter of linen canvas fabric to create a wall hanging. It is also perfect to center for a pillow or other imaginative project. If you would like a smaller scale in a repeat design, just drop me a note. This would be charming in a quilt.
This fat quarter of linen canvas fabric measures 27 inches in height by 18 inches wide. The image is centered on the fabric to create your wall hanging. The design size is 21 x 18 inches and 300 pixels/inch.
I collect Antique books, and when I saw this print from 1838, I used it to digitally create the moon and hot air balloon. My other little trees and dove were created using ephemera.
Orchard House, home of Louisa May Alcott is in the moon. The forest trees, dove and hot air balloon were created from ephemera. Taken from the pages of Louisa May Alcott's Journals, in my private book collection, this fabric design was inspired by a print of Orchard House from 1838. . The words read "There was a story in the moon and the forest waiting patiently for the play to begin" Visiting Orchard House always makes me think of what it must have been like to live there as a child and hear the imaginative stories of Louisa May Alcott.
I have created a melody of fabric designs to match this on in my calendar collection. This calendar was so popular last year that I created one for 2012.
If you need this design to be printed on a different fabric for a quilt or other sewing project, just drop me a note. I can create a custom listing for you.
