An actual 1918 advertisement for the Lionel Strongfort exercise system. Who it is aimed at, I haven't a clue. I certainly wouldn't turn to this guy if he said these opening lines of the ad to me:
"Oh you unfit, flabby, useless--doing nothing for yourself, your family or your country. What good are you to anyone, in these times if you are dragging yourself about with your physical system a wreck, your mentality cobwebbed and your spirit gone? Brace up! --take hold of yourself. BECOME A MAN"
His punctuation is kinda bizarre. His insults are over the top. I think you can read his whole rant if you click the zoom mode.
And you can have as big a laugh as I did at what passed for fitness training during World War One.
