This is a collage piece I did with the newspaper's front page news when my studio and business went up in flames one icy winter morning in January of 2003. I rented the basement of this foam cutting factory. It was a huge building and one of the employees sneaking a smoke where it wasn't allowed destroyed this 100 plus year old millwork factory in just a few hours. No one was hurt! This is a special day in my life as I learned some wonderful lessons on how to deal with what at first seemed total devastation and as usual ended up a blessing in disguise. This is the tale of the phoenix rising from the ashes. You sometimes have to let go of the way things are to have them the way you want. Always find the lesson, dust yourself off and get moving again.

That is very kind of you to say Susanne. It was rough getting there and I still get a pain in my gut when I think of it. My life's work gone. Every tool, paintbrush, portfolios, art books, everything. I found my knees buckling and hitting the ground a few times. But you can't live in that place so you have to create something new. There was no time to grieve as I had contracts to fill. I realized I could move on easier by looking for silver linings where ever I could find them and holding those close to block the grief.

All things must pass! I am happy about how you look on this special day. Letting go is a cosmic form of art. Big hug to you!
