In the Philippines where I grew up, people decorate their homes with Christmas lanterns called parol. This fabric is inspired by the beautiful parols of my youth. They’re filled with lights that shine like jewels.
You will have two circular ornaments with a swatch, 10 with a fat quarter.
In addition to the fabric, you will need: scissors, toy stuffing, ribbon, needle & thread or sewing machine.
1. Cut out the patterns.
2. With the right sides facing one another, hold the pieces together with pins.
3. Sew around the edges, leaving an inch opening at the top.
3. Turn right side out, stuff through the opening, then insert a looped ribbon.
4. Stitch the opening shut.
5. Hang & enjoy!
Embellish with sequins or small beads.
