This design is inspired by my childhood memories growing up in the cove of Rancho Mirage, California, where the desert was literally my backyard. It features desert animals such as coyotes, quail, the roadrunner, the desert tortoise, lizards, snakes, owls, the jack rabbit and red tail hawk. I coordinated them with barrel and saguaro cactus, sagebrush, mountains and prickly trees. I used a combination of markers and watercolor pencils in neutral shades of brown, rust orange, teal, green and grey.
