These michaelmas daisies are actually positioned and oriented extremely precisely - for a faux ditsy.
These michaelmas daisies are actually positioned and oriented extremely precisely (on the edge-centres, vertices and some of the face-centres of the semi-regular square and triangle grid S43433) rather than being scattered randomly. However, the complex symmetries of that plane group (having tetrad rotational axes but with its mirror axes along the bias diagonals while the glide axes correspond to warp and weft directions) result in the continual breaking up of the easy patterns that the brain wants to track (and it's even harder when all the flowers are made the same colour). This puts it on the borderline of being a "ditsy" pattern. Meanwhile, the tetrads ensure that the design isn't favouring any particular fabric direction over any other.
Currently displaying a version in natural michaelmas daisy colours on a green background. Other colours, sizes and orientations are available on request and you can even ask for a combination of several designs together.

I suspect that's merely the colours zinging - and it won't be much use as an optical illusion if it's only affecting you! :-D
Not sure why, but I am getting a strong optical illusion of movement on this one. Not only good for a ditsy print, but you may have come up with a new one for the optical illusion sites!
Thanks, wendyg. Now that I've bothered to demonstrate the principle, I'll probably enter this in the ditsy print contest, to see if it pushes the boundary too far for other people, if I don't come up with anything more subversive beforehand.

Am I not let off doing too many colourways by having labelled them as michaelmas daisies (which does rather narrow down the range!)? ;-)
