All the designs I do somehow come out as fabric designs. They may start as photos, drawings, embroidery, dye-painted fabrics, batiks or virtual batiks, or even typography, but they all lead to fabrics. Often they are Art Nouveau or William Morris inspired

I started to make an autumn quilt pattern, based on a hanging I did for my mother years ago, which had one fabric with leaves on it. Simple geometry, although not a traditional pattern, that I know of. Put some of my leaf drawings onto the hexagonal piece, then just for fun, added them to the other pieces. Then I thought "What if I took away the piecework, and just kept the leaves?" The background prints a little bluer than it shows here, and at night it looks quite a bit darker, so there is more contrast. When I got my large piece this week, there was a small problem with the way it printed, not visible in my swatch. I have to track down the "ghost" in the file, and reload the design. It should be available for sale again soon.

su - I have ordered a yard of this for a wall-hanging to look at in my bedroom. The rhythmic design, and the complex interactions, remind me of Baroque music, which for me is a relaxing thing to listen to, which I don't get tired of. And it has just about my favorite color for a background. I have my swatch hanging up there now, and the background really does look quite a lot darker in the evenings. It's the only really changeable color I've found.

This is such a lovely simple elegant design, I love the asymmetry of the random stalks in the hexagonal shape, and it's interesting what you say about taking things away that resulted in this deign - sometimes less is more...
Thank you pond_ripple. I love serendipitous surprises like this.
This is beautiful!
