You won't believe this - but my mom and I were JUST looking at a picture of a Gerber Baby Doll because it was my first doll that I picked out for myself (in about 79 because I was 3 and of course, I am named Sarah) I was reminded of her because my 3 month old Emily looks just like my "Rebecca." My mom's bride doll was china and had those rubber band joints and I loved to twist it so tight that they would snap back. Totally ruined it! Dolls are such lovely thing s- she and I both still love them. I have some of her Furga dolls.
Zapf balica dolls made in germany / yugoslavia their wonderful dolls ebay has tons of them, soft body made very well they cant pull the arms or leggs off perfect for dressing a million times I'm surprised I still have the original clothes, shoes are long gone
Yes I even had that Natasha look'in barbie / jail striped swimsuit. lol My best friend had them all even the dream house I asked her one time if she still had them because, she could have put herself through college if she did I was never a barbie fan.Was your moms a vinyl or china? Seems like most bride ones were china if so thats going to be a tuff one. I always got my daughter sarah a doll for her birthday a "baby doll" and christmas "bigger girl", her first was a 79 gerber baby w/ tub set. vinyl effanbee, balica had one named sarah looked just like her they are beautiful dolls 22 years later still like new. I started that tradition till she reached her teens and didn't play with dolls anymore, than it was clothes and music
It is darling. I am a huge Madame Alexander fan. There is a Miss Muffet doll from the mid 60's in a bright blue polka doll, a Gretel and a Germany doll in the same era that were navy ditsy patterns. I wish I could help you find out which one you had! I have been looking for the exact early 60's bride doll of my mothers that she let me play with when I was three. It didn't survive but her Meg from Little Women still sits on my shelf and will be put in Emily's nursery when we move! I could talk about those dolls forever!
Thanks Rhonda, Amy yes it reminds me of my favorite dolly I had when I was about 12 I just loved it. Barbie was the thing! but my sweet little madam alexander, barbie couldn't hold a candle 64 ish, wish I could remember her name she had a navy/white polka dot dress I'd spend hours looking at the little pamphlet dreaming of the other dolls I wanted. This is kinda like the sweet little prints madam used not too cutsie but more stylish and not as bold or mature as barbie lol
This would be so pretty for a vintage style clothing pattern, perhaps Decades of Style patterns.
This is an attractive small-scale design, Christine! It is a very useable print that would be great for vintage-looking dolls' clothing!
