I'm really a beginner in fabric, but only after a few months I've learned so much from this friendly and helpful community.

I love these contests, because they teach me so much. These flowers are patterned after Turkish tulips. I'm pretty sure they don't exist in Hawaii,
I love these contests, because they teach me so much. These flowers are patterned after Turkish tulips. I'm pretty sure they don't exist in Hawaii, but I wanted to put my own spin on a Hawaiian quilt pattern. I've used four colors, blue, yellow, black, and white. I hope you like it!

This is so charming, I like your choice of colors and the openess of it!
Rhonda, I looked it up. I definitely think I'm going to try to do it...by hand. Thanks for the tip.
Corinne, echo quilting is when the quilting pattern follows the shape of the applique shape in a series of concentric lines. It looks a bit like the ripples that radiate out from where something lands in water. It is a very effective technique which suits many applique patterns and makes a great alternative to background cross-hatching or stippling.
Thanks Rhonda, although, I don't really know what "echo" quilting is. I'll have to look it up.
Your design is very elegant, Corinne. The echo quilting usually seen on traditional Hawaiian quilts would really suit this pattern.
A very pretty design. I like your choice of the tulips. This would look lovely as a centrepiece on a dining table.
