Design by Rhonda W. © 1994-2008-2011. This storm of butterflies design complies to the limited palette of the Spoonflower "Butterfly" contest.
A storm of fluttering butterflies flit across an abstract geometric butterfly design. Originally designed by me to be used as pieced patchwork blocks and quilt patterns, this fabric design can be used as a cheater quilt. It is embellished with surface designs from my Butterfly Storm Collection. The "Butterflies", limited palette competition, inspired me to rummage in my patchwork blocks design portfolio and let these butterflies flutter off into a new realm! If you would like me to alter the size of the design, please send me a message. Original design by Rhonda W. © 1994-2008-2011.

I love this - such a great patch design and it works so well with these fills. Love the little butterfly bodies creating more butterflies - such a clever idea!
Thank you Miriam! I haven't had much time near the computer during the last couple of weeks so am way behind with replies and comments!

Thank you for the positive comment, Su!
This is great Rhonda, and I love the way you have put the whole collection together, including the little branch pattern for the butterflies to rest on.
Thank you very much for the super comments treacle_treats and Joanne! I couldn't resist this opportunity to incorporate my fabric designs into one of my own quilt patterns!
Beautiful Rhonda! and sooo clever, really wonderful idea and done so well, I know nothing of quilting techniques but I know a gorgeous design when I see one...and this is definitely one!!!
I love the way you dealt with this theme!
Thank you owlandchickadee! I really appreciate the comment!
What a great idea! It looks wonderful!
Thank you so much, Grace!
Wow! This looks lovely Rhonda!
Thank you Joan! Glad you noticed the rotated positions of the butterflies as I was trying for that sense of movement, the same as I would use in a cut and pieced quilt.
The arrangement of these pieces make me think the butterflies are flying from place to place. Great "piecework".......!
Thank you, Nan!
Thank you so much for the comments, Cean and Katherine! I value the feedback! Katherine, I won't be able to resist incorporating a large section of this fabric as the central panel of a quilt!
This is wonderful! I hope you decide to sew up a quilt with it! :)
Wonderful take on the theme, Rhonda! I love the parts with the vine and butterfly popping in here and there. Very nice!
Thank you Valentina!!
Love the idea! The design and details are great :)
Thank you Deborah, Dawn, Lucinda and Victoria! I'm glad that you like my "pieced" and "appliqued" quilt! It certainly took a lot less time to "construct" than my usual method! I really enjoyed putting it together and loved working with the colours in the limited palette.
Great quilt pattern. I especially like the "applique" and "pieced" butterflies.
Great design for a quilting class.
Great way to make these colors work! Awesome job!
This is so much fun! I like the quilt style! ...and the other designs in the collections are awesome!

What a gorgeous quilt pattern, Rhonda. I love it!
Utterly sweet and clever use of patchwork to make butterflies! Clever girl you, is it too late to join your class? :)
Nice to see that someone did a cheater quilt. I had one in mind, but I didn't think I had time to do it.
How delightful! I can't believe all the detail you put into this! It's amazing Rhonda! I love the color groupings, and the flowers, and the butterflies, and the vines...I could keep on going for awhile!
great idea Rhonda, and you've done it so very well!
Didn't see this coming! Really cool idea for the butterflies entry. Nice!

rhonda this quilt style design is amazing !
Beautiful design. I love the combination of elements.
Looks so quilty and fab! What a great collection, perfectly done!
What an amazing fabric, Rhonda. I love how you've taken your own quilt pattern and then applied to it a little collection of fabrics that you have also designed. I totally see the butterflies in the quilt blocks but I love how you've given them little bodies so they stand out even more clearly.
Wow, Rhonda, way to raise the bar for this competition. Wonderful take on the theme and beautifully executed! Excellent!
