I have been sewing for 37 years (huh, that makes me sound old!), quilting for 17 years and was the web designer for a quilt shop for 6 years. I have been designing fabric for 3 years and love to create complex repeats as well as photos for memory quilts.

This is an original hand-drawn blue crab with a rope border on a light blue gray sandy shell background. I drew this picture using only Crayola crayons on three separate pieces of paper in order to make it easier to scan in. Then I carefully pieced it back together using Adobe Photoshop. To make it easier to define the 18" square edge, I did add a very thin cutting line. I allowed up to an inch for hemming. The design also allows you to use less hem. The napkin's finished measurement after hemming is approximately 16-17 inches depending upon your hemming method. (Note: This is a napkin panel to be printed on a fat quarter, not for a repeating pattern in running yardage. In proofing this fabric, six napkins will fit using the basic repeat on the linen-cotton canvas. This is my recommendation for my napkin.) I did not do any digital enhancements or adjustments to my artwork. This artwork is entirely original. COPYRIGHT © 2011 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.

Wonderful work! It has great depth to it - you should do a set with a starfish, etc.!

great art work!
Thanks for the comments! Yes, those napkins would look awesome at a seafood banquet! And, yes, that crab will be scurrying away fast!
This delightful napkin design would be perfect for a seafood banquet! Is that crab trying to escape from the feast?!
I think this is a gorgeous design...and your process is pretty amazing too!
Thank you! I actually had been wanting to do a crab napkin for a while. I just did not realize I would end up doing it in crayons!
Wow! Really nice! Amazing use of crayons!
Thanks for the wonderful comments! I just ordered a yard of it on the linen-cotton (6 napkins) yesterday. I can wait to see it printed on fabric. Hopefully, the linen-cotton canvas will be a good napkin weight. I think it will have good body to it too.
I'm loving that crab!
What a gorgeous and subtle design. Amazed this was done with crayons! The crab is fantastic (as is the rope....Ok, I love all of it!)
