Everything I needed to know about poppies, drug addicts, (and flying monkeys), I learned from the Wizard of Oz. When the wicked witch cackled "poppies will put them to sleep," and turned the fields in front of Oz into flowers, it made no sense to my seven year old mind. I could run through fields of any flower and not fall asleep. So, I asked the only adult available to me at that minute, how this worked. My mother explained that you could cook the poppies to make opium, and that jazz musicians took the opium, and became addicts, and nodded off whenever they shot up. Why jazz musicians did this and not folk or classical musicians, I still have no answer for. Nor did that explanation even start to explain how running through a field of blooming poppies, refined, cooked, and addicted Dorothy and friends instantly. But then monkeys did not have wings, and apple trees didn't talk either, so I wasn't too concerned with those details. Which brings me to the nouveau deco Edwardian poppies of this stained glass window style retro 1920's-1930's design. These poppies will not put you to sleep, even if you listen to jazz, or worse yet play jazz instruments, while looking at them. I promise. (file QQ178a, #6129702) The boring fine print (that is actually the same size as all the other print): The size (scale) you see displayed in all Spoonflower offerings is actually only a suggestion. In my case it is the size I personally wanted for my eight inch proof of the design. Because this is custom printing designs can be made in any (technically possible and reasonable looking) size. You can even order the same design in two sizes, such as a yard of big and a yard of small, to use together. This does take communication and co-ordination with the artist. But do not think that the scale you see on the screen is the only way the design comes. If you need tiny and the design is big, or the reverse, you can buy a design you like that way. The keyword 2084 has been entered on most of this artist's abstract and geometric designs for use in the search block.
