This artist creates a Cuisinart of abstract mirror designs borrowing bits from Victorian, Edwardian, paisley, and art nouveau. She also draws orphan cars, and adapts a few very old ads. Most of her work is hand drawn with twists, vines & Celtic knots.

I scanned this ad showing four of the prizes a boy could earn by going door to door and selling soap. Based on the number of boxes he sold he could redeem his earnings for the rugby ball, magic lantern, or air rifle. (No mention is made that he could ask for the actual money and not buy from this "company store.") No doubt variations of this scheme still go on, though they now have to include girls, and I doubt they could get away with offering an air rifle any more.
