The ill-fated 1960 Edsel never made it to its model year. It was introduced for sale on October 15, 1959 and discontinued on November 19, 1959, after just one month and four days of sales. Of course it was never planned to exist beyond November 19, a "secret" so well kept that even the FoMoCo employees who were attempting to buy back the Edsel dealership contracts during early 1959, so the company would not have to make a 1960 Edsel, did not know why.
Today, the survivors out of the 2,846 originally made, are rare, even among Edsel collectors. There are probably more light blue 1960 Edsels on a yard of this fabric than exist on the roads.
