It wasn't that high - not even quite in the top 10%. Though it wasn't separated from the top 10 by very many votes.

Congratulations on placing high in the contest. I love this design, and gave it a vote.
Love your tesselation idea which you implemented very well, I think!
Thank you. Though, as I already mentioned somewhere or other, this design mostly exists because *I* want it. The Spoonflower contest just happened to come along at the same time as I'd discovered this US website and company at all. I've been trying unsuccessfully for years in the UK to get the original made into cloth and then clothing. My initial samples should be crossing the Atlantic about now.
VOTED for you in the Squid fabric contest! Good luck!
@ thatswho [Assuming you're talking about the photos to which I linked]: Perhaps. They certainly don't get a lot of light down there, most of the time.
It looks like it was squinting from the camera flash.
This interesting tesselating pattern makes a wonderful abstract fabric design.
I do like Escher's stuff - but often prefer the starting tesselations to the picture transformation involving them.
Escher, eat your heart out! :D Well done!!
This design is very clever and appealing. The squid are just as I prefer them - heavily stylised!
If you see the real thing, eg here, it has quite a scary sphincter-operated eye.
Such a cute little blue-eyed cephalopod!
