my fishy paisley design, i received my first wacom halfway through doing this design so a lot of it is done with that, i did the original pencil drawing on paper scanned it in and went round the outlines with the wacom pen. it's not turned out quite as i had envisioned but i am going to work on it further and upload another version after the contest, i think i'll be able to do a lot better once i get the hang of it!! loving my new wacom yay! how did i ever do without one?? hahaha!!!

Adorable!! The blue fishy patterns are making me think of Greece. Opa! Fantastic!

This is so nice, Jo! And it really enforces the fact that I need to actually try my wacom out... :)
hahaa! cheers Rachel!! and Anja - glad you like it!! Cean - so funny...don't know about talent goo hahaa! but i do need a protective cover, my 3yr old has discovered it and being big into her drawing has pretty much decided it's her new toy!! she has done several 'abstract pieces' which daddy thinks are a work of genius hahaa! i have no idea why i showed her how to use it...doh!!!
Beautiful. It looks like drawn with a biro or ballpoint pen - I like that style very much.
Sorry I'm so late to the table on this one, Jo. It kept sneaking by me on my comments page, though I finally caught these slippery fellas. I think this is an absolute stunner, with the delicate line work and your delightful flowery eyed fish. You have so much talent oozing from every pore you'd better get a protective cover for that Wacom, lest you get talent goo on it. (ugh. Shouldn't write comments at 2 in the morning.)
ah....you were a winner to me Jo ;)
thanks so much Erin and Patty, and Thanks for the pep-talk Rachel, I really appreciate it! I hate to have to mention but I only actually won one contest, did come 2nd in another tho....so nearly two hahahaha!! i'm actually feeling a bit better about my fishes now, and although they aren't quite what i was aiming for, it is kinda cute, i do like the layout and repeat!!
oh it's fabulous Jo! All your lovely details in the different fish scales and flowery eyes make for a really wonderful design.
i think this is a really great design, accessible to many ages, both genders, and for many uses. always so hard on yourself joanne, and don't forget, you are a two time contest winner....people like your work!
oh cool, thanks for your comments and opinons, i've looked at it so long i can't tell...if you know what i mean haha! you are all so lovely and supportive, glad you like it!!
this is so cute! and it's the right one to enter - not the darker one - because the dark-blue and white fishes end up being the same average brightness as the background blue, so as they get darker and lighter they swim in and out of the background - in the other design they're all on the surface. Am I making any sense here? I'm tired too. More coffee.... anyways I like this one bestest. The patterns are very nice and the whole pattern is attractive.
The monochromatic colourway of these sweet little fishies is the perfect way to emphasise the decorative detail of their lovely scale patterns. They are sure to reel in the attention of voters in the paisley competition Joanne!
The repeat is really nice.
thanks so much for your comments folks, i decided to change the description, was feeling a little disappointed how it turned out, but then it was 4am and i was a bit tired and emotional hahahaa! i can always work on it more and see what i can do with it!
I love this, it reminds me a little of that dutch deft ware, except, you know, not dutch themed, haha! It's so whimsical and pretty!
They are swimming fantasticly. Love it!
trés joli graphisme !
this is your first wacom go? woah ~ brilliant! Bet this will look fab printed ~ a great fabric for beachy summer things too! xxx
I love the fishes! They're so fabulously cute!
This is cute, cute, cute!
This is great, you should be much nicer to the fishies and yourself Joanne! I love the way you did all the different textured scales and flower eyeballs!
Well, I think it's cute and I LOVE the blues; that cobalt is stunning. Good job, even if you don't think so! :D
