A toile design for the "Civil Rights" contest. One of the greatest tragedies, and injustices, to occur in the United States of America. The Trail of Tears refers to the forced, mass, relocation of the Native American tribes sometimes referred to as The Five Civilized Tribes. Many thousands died during the relocation, symbolized by grave mounds in the toile.
