Fabric design is definitely not my strong point as an artist, but I keep on trying! I am so inspired by all the other talented people on here. My main interest, in my own work, is in adult-leaning but child inspired designs. I aim to be silly.

So here is my entry for the large scale floral contest with the limited palette. I did not use the green or the brown as they just seemed to muddy my

Thank you, Cean!

This has a really great vintage feel, Mona! I can totally see a forties dame in a dress made out of this pattern. Those black stems are the perfect touch. Super!
Thank you, Grace!
so pretty & playful!
Thank you so much!!! :)
Gorgeous! I too love the tulip stems...genius!
Very pretty flower shapes Mona! I love how the wiggly tulip stems tie it all down!
Silly me, Mona! Pardon my lapse of concentration which caused my faux pas! Put it down to over-indulgence of delectable fabric designs in the Big Botanical competition. So much creative thought and talent is on display with this contest. Anyway, I'm sure that your design will look as fantastic as the image when it is printed. :-)
Oh - it's not printed yet, Rhonda! The picture is just to show it at a better size. :)
The printed fabric looks wonderful , Mona!
A yard view of my design - this shows of the large scale repeat better.
lulakiti uploaded a fabric image for
Big, Bright, Beautiful Botanical :
Thanks, Patty! The repeat is still bugging me though - went back and messed with it AGAIN today... and it is the same. So I am just going to assume that it really is not part of my design as everything I have checked on my ends seems fine. Sigh.
Very nice! I like the way you've layered all your elements and your fabulous repeat was definitely worth all the trouble!
Thank you all!
simply gorgeous my dear! perfect title, it is exactly big bright and beautifully botanical!! the colours actually look really nice with all that white spacing and has been said your repeat is amazing....i have such trouble with repeats too.....i had 5 attempts at mine before i got one i liked! you've really come up trumps with yours!
How gorgeous. This is stunning at multi-yard view. I think it would be fantastic on the upholstery weight, covering a big ottoman perhaps. You've done really well.
Oh this is so pretty!!
Thanks for the reassurance, Victoria! Much appreciated! And yeah, I'm overly dramatic - my studio/office/huge mess is on the ground floor... I probably wouldn't even stub a toe if I should hop out the window. :)
Lovely design. Hope your studio is on the ground floor; we'd hate to lose you. I can see why this was difficult. There are really 2 layers to the repeat, it's always much more difficult to get those right; but you have succeeded. I often have those funky lines in my repeats; you really have to study it to see it here. Sammyk is correct, no worries, it's not really in your design.
Thank you, Rachel! That is very kind of you!
this is perfection Mona!
Aw thanks, Sharon! :) I've pretty much come to the conclusion that if I made it, the majority of people are not going to like it... but I am still trying anyway! Hee hee.
Oh wow the repeat is to die for! I love this. This is seriously cool. A contender for sure..... yummylicious xxx
Thank you so much, Rhonda!
This has a lovely light freshness about it and looks wonderfully sophisticated, Mona. You have a lovely swirly repeat happening,
I've had that happen too and it's often the bowser you're viewing your uploaded file in. Try another and it will disappear, no worries. Great job!
Thanks, Samarra! I had to start over at least 3 times. SO annoying. And I still see a little "notch" in the repeat but I have been over and over it and I swear it is not really there.
Oh, great job, Mona! I've had a few repeating issues that have nearly driven me mad too. This was worth the perseverance: lovely fresh-flowered approach to the theme!
Thank you, simboko! I think bedding is exactly what I was envisioning! :)
The repeat is really nice and the colors you chose to work with from the restricted palette work well together. Would be perfect for bedding.
