I draw all my designs in Illustrator. I'm inspired by early- and mid-twentieth century illustrations, especially in children's books.

Tea towel featuring the birds of the Twelve Days of Christmas. I stuck with the 18th century version of the carol: “4 colly birds†meant blackbirds and “5 gold rings†probably meant ring-necked birds like pheasants. Days 8-12 are referenced in the birds’ accessories (see if you can find them all!). I drew this in Illustrator.
If you're looking for more than a tea towel - Check out my Gone to the Birds Kit: one yard of linen-cotton canvas yields four placemats and four ornaments.

Thank you, Su! I never thought about taking these Christmas song birds and refiguring them into a farmyard design. That's a great idea!

What a lovely idea! This would make nice yardage too, such a cheerful collection of colors and a real farmyard feel. I can also see it as curtains in rustic-style decor.

Veronica, I love this imaginative and beautifully-rendered design, and for me it was most-definitely one of the top designs for this contest!!
Love these warm colors for such a cool and sometimes harsh season. Great design!
This makes a lovely, year-around, tea-towel design. The colours work very well together and all the birds are wonderful. I particularly like the swan and the dancing shoes.
The colours work beautifully together in this dynamic depiction of the feathered flock of characters mentioned in the carol. I like the subtle visual hints of the birdless verses.
Beautiful flowing design- like your use of color-that can be used all year- good job
Impressed with your use and variety of birds - very well designed
lovely! so glad I clicked over from the contest to read your explanation. Though the colors don't seem Christmasey to me, they are beautiful in their own right and really makes for a fresh take on the song.
