it's gorgeous. won first place in my heart too.
I'm late to comment but I wanted to says congrats for making the top ten with this sensational design. I would have loved to see this take the top prize. I have some choice words on the subject, but I'll keep it G rated and just say I second what Mona said!
Thanks Victoria and Christine! I just finished some minor tweaks to the colors (mostly making that red more of a true red), and am pretty happy with it.
Just wonderful! Can hardly wait to purchase some of this lovely fabric -- it printed up beautifully.
I agree with lulakiti; #1! Printed beautifully.
aw, thank you mona, that is incredibly sweet. And just as much thanks to sharon, christine, jillian, shin and rae. I'm a bit slow keeping up lately, but I really appreciate all your comments! :)
This printed out every bit as beautiful as I imagined it would! Love it, Patty! In my heart, it won 1st place. :)
great fabric pics! awesome fabric design xxx

Love this design it was one of my favorites
Congratulations on top 10! :)
congrats on placing 5th, but gutted it wasn't first. Your design totally outshone all other designs (well perhaps just 1 close second) far out in any aspect!
congrats Patty! this is just wonderful :)
Thanks so much everybody! I'm happy to have placed, especially with all your lovely comments and support making me feel like a winner. You guys are all so awesome, thank you! :D
I agree! You were robbed! This totally deserved to win, 2nd place I could accept. Congratulations though, and hope you sell yards and yards.
Congrats on #5! Although I'm with everyone else who's surprised this didn't score higher! I hope you sell tons!
So happy to see you in the top ten, though surprised to not se you higher. This is so lovely, and I can't wait until it takes the wrapping paper circuit by storm! Congrats!
congrats on 5th patty, tho i agree with everyone else, i did expect this to do even better! a perfect interpretation and beautiful design.
Congratulations, Patty! I knew your design would place, although I thought it would come in at #1 too ... this is altogether one of the loveliest and best (interpretation, color, composition, AND technique) designs I've seen in *any* of the contests! No kiddin' ...
Agree with Samarra, Sharon and Virginia - totally robbed. Glad to at least see you in the top ten though. I'm a wee bit upset by the outcome of this particular contest. LOVE your design!
Dudette, you were totally robbed. I hope you sell lots of this.
robbed. You and the lady below me.... robbed I tell you. Hugs xxx
Congrats, Patty, though I'm gonna say it... you were totally robbed!
Congratulations! Wonderful design
Yeah! Congrats on making the top 10 this week Patty!
Well done, Patty! I was happy to see your lovely design in the top ten.
Congrats on 5th place!
Yay! Congrats on placing in the top 10! Really beautiful illustrations!
Thanks so much Jillian and kiddins!
Beautiful illustrations Patty! So unified in color and style!
Thanks everybody, for your lovely comments and well wishes!
The challenge with this theme is to end up with balanced, harmonious design. You have acheived this marvelously, even though each shape and its contents, is different.
Brilliant! Love everything about it.
wow, patty, this really is beautiful!!!
Love this design! Hope it wins!
ooh, yeah, Isabella! thanks Mona and Isabella for checking the repeat options out! Teamwork - I love this community! Now I'm contemplating making wrapping paper too... ;o)
This is such a lovely design, it's definitely going to get my vote! And thanks for sharing those wrapping paper links, that's so cool!
Mona, the last option has a section for "photographers/artists" that does just that. You have to go to their home page and follow the link for details. There are a variety of seamless layout options available.
Hmmm... after looking at those sites - if anyone can figure out how to make an image repeat and print like a fabric, let me know! It looks like they all just want to plug your pictures into their already existing wrapping paper. I don't understand why there isn't a company that can do for wrapping paper what Spoonflower does for fabric...
Wow - I was totally going to ask if anyone knew where one might get a custom wrapping paper! Thanks, Kelly and Victoria! :) And I agree, Patty - this design is perfection for a wrapping paper!
That first one is having a sale that ends tomorrow, 12/2.
get out, that's so cool! I'm on my way to check them out as we speak, thanks kelly... and Victoria!
@patty - yes! there is custom wrapping paper available! and this design would look fabulous as wrapping paper too (as well as fabric)!
try <a href="http://giftskins.com/Step1New.asp?Type=Giftskins%2Ecom+Products&front=1566&cc=">here</a> ($15 for a 19x76" roll)
or maybe <a href="http://www.123print.com/Wrapping-Paper_Solid-White_Design-BABDHBJC">here</a> ($16, but free shipping) or <a href="http://www.picturepaper.com/catalog_detail.aspx?paper=Special%20Order">here</a>...
I don't know how good they are with repeating designs, but maybe they can do it...? ;o)
Every time I come back to admire this design again, I think how useful it looks. I see that I'm correct in that thought with all the other comments here. It would be perfect for use as reusable wrapping, or for wrapping a gift for a quilter, or crafter.
oh my gosh, I think I'm blushing. Thank you all so much for the lovely compliments and ideas! ooh cean, wrapping paper... I wish someone would open an online shop where you could upload your art and order your own wrapping paper. Gift tags, I think my desktop printer can handle, thanks kdl for the idea. Shin, I'll definitely be ordering one of those $1 color guides this week. And really, I just want to say how much I love reading all of your comments! :)
This is lovely, Patty. I'm very impressed with how every gorgeous element is isolated by it's own pretty frame, yet linked together by your well chosen limited palette with it's deftly placed touches of red.
Looks great Patty, love the movement the little banners add!
So lovely, I like your illustrations. It is so detail and seems beautiful story.
Lovin this fabulous Christmas Design, wonderful colours and illustrations :)

The master colorist strikes again! Your gentle palette is prefect and serene, and I love the almost 3-D effect the background gives to the cartouches. This would make stellar wrapping paper!
Super well done! Just perfect amount of details, nice colors etc! This will do great in the contest!!
This is so very lovely. Beautiful illustrations; and I agree with weavingmajor about the touches of red. I also really like the tone on tone hounds tooth background and the ribbon tying the vignettes together. Good luck.
How beautiful, these look like lovely tags on package wrapping, very nicely done!
I soooooo love this! Well done! This should place for sure!!! :)
patty this is truly amazing, no matter how many entries there are this will do extremely well! love the limited palette, and the small touches of pattern here and there, and fabulous illustrations as always, it's so beautiful and sophisticated, love it!
Oh my, this is fabulous!!!
P.s. did you know you can get a simple colour chart for $1
absolutely gorgeous Patty. I wouldn't be surprised if this ended very very VERY high!
oh wow, thanks so much everybody for all the lovely, lovely comments! What a nice surprise to see them all on my lunch break! I did work pretty hard on this one. I wasn't even considering entering until I read on SF's blog that hardly anyone had entered and I thought, oh... this is my best chance to place, I'd better enter something! haha My color palette was inspired by necessity in that I'm scared to death of printing large areas of red, so I focused on the greens and blues which usually come out pretty good. I really need to get a color chart! :)
gorgeous! the color palette is stunning!
wow! this is fabulous. Especially the red highlights in each, like holly berries amid all that green. The illustrations are gorgeous, I love the curvy frames, and the winding ribbons - everything about it is wonderful. Well done!
It's beautiful ! so sweet colors !
absolutely gorgeous, what a lot of work too xxx
Very nice! Love the color palette!
Ooooooh, you nailed it, Patty! Beautiful!
Really lovely Patty. I'm tipping my hat to you.
The soft and subtle hints of colour in these lovely vintage-sryle vignettes are perfectly suited to the subject matter of this classic Christmas carol!
Absolutely beautiful artwork and design, Patty! And the color palette you chose for this is perfect too.
