MERMAIDS MATERIALS Genna the Mermaid panel Polyester Fibre Fill Felt or wadding for inside the tail Needle and thread Scissors Sewing machine or needle and thread Cut out pieces, 5 mm seam allowance is included and indicated by the paler area around the edge. ARMS Place arm pattern pieces facing right side together and sew around edge leaving open where indicated. Clip around the curve of the arm and then turn through. Fill the two arms with polyester fibre fill. Pin inside the body pieces where indicated. TAIL The tail can either be stuffed with Fibre Fill or preferably a piece of felt or wadding can be sewn in, this will keep it flat but give it more body. If you are using felt or wadding just cut a piece the same size as the tail and then place the tail right sides together with the felt (wadding) on the outside of one of the pieces. Stitch around the edge leaving open where indicated. Clip the curves and turn through. HAIR Place hair pattern pieces facing right side together and sew around edge leaving open where indicated. Clip around the curve of the hair and then turn through. Pin inside the body pieces where indicated. BODY Place the body right sides together, pinning the arms in between immediately below the head. Stitch around leaving open where indicated. The tail is hand stitched to the body at the end so no need to sew it in at this time. Clip the curves and turn through. Fill the body with Fibre Fill and stitch the opening closed. Now take the tail and place over the end of the body and hand stitch together folding in the end of the tail as you go. A small area of the tail may have to be sewn together on either side. SKIRT / TAIL FRILL Fold skirt piece in half lengthways, right sides together. Sew closed leaving an opening at one end to turn through. Clip curves and trim points then turn through. Press flat with iron and hand stitch opening closed. Top around stitch wavy side. Using a sewing machine on largest stitch (gathering thread), sew along straight end. Now carefully pull one thread so that fabric gathers until it fits the waist of the mermaid. Then top stitch over the gathering thread to make it secure. Finally hand stitch around waist of mermaid. SEA DRAGON MATERIALS Sam the Sea Monster Panel Polyester Fibre Fill Felt or wadding for inside the tail Needle and thread Scissors Sewing machine or needle and thread Cut out pieces, 5 mm seam allowance is included and indicated by the paler area around the edge. LEGS Place front leg pattern pieces facing right side together and sew around edge leaving open where indicated. Clip around the curve of the leg and then turn through. Fill the two legs with polyester fibre fill. Close the top of the leg so that the side seams are flat together and sew one leg inside the dart of each body piece. TAIL The tail can either be stuffed with Fibre Fill or preferably a piece of felt or wadding can be sewn in, this will keep it flat but give it more body. If you are using felt or wadding just cut a piece the same size as the tail and then place the tail right sides together with the felt (wadding) on the outside of one of the pieces. Stitch around the edge leaving open where indicated. Clip the curves and turn through. ZIG ZAG FIN Place right sides together and sew along the zig zag section, leaving base open. Snip in between the v sections and trim the points. Turn through. BODY Place the body right sides together, pinning the zig zag fin in between from head to tail and stitch around leaving open where indicated. The tail is hand stitched to the body at the end so no need to sew it in at this time. Clip the curves and turn through. Fill the body with Fibre Fill and stitch the opening closed. Now take the tail and place over the end of the sea dragon and hand stitch together folding in the end of the tail as you go. A small area of the tail may have to be sewn together on either side.
