All the designs I do somehow come out as fabric designs. They may start as photos, drawings, embroidery, dye-painted fabrics, batiks or virtual batiks, or even typography, but they all lead to fabrics. Often they are Art Nouveau or William Morris inspired

Designed as a fat quarter size color test. These are my personal color palettes. Unlike most, they include muted versions of the colors.
Designed as a fat quarter size color test. These are my personal color palettes. Unlike most, they include muted versions of the colors, as well as jewel tones. Those grayed colors print truer to the computer view than the brights do on my printer, and at Spoonflower. I can provide ASE files for these colors.
I received my copy of this. Bluegreens do print bluer in general than they look onscreen. There are a couple of distinct breaks in the printed colors, where they print very differently than you think they will. I think it is useful to know about them - to avoid those hues. It is the brights that are the problems, plus black and dark grays. Hues are printed on the fabric. I find that colors print quite differently from Adobe1998 colorspace than they do from sRGB; these are the Illustrator colors, and they print closer to the way they look here, so I don't want to change them. I have just made a Photoshop version of this.
I find these palettes especially useful for finding close-by colors which look good together. Contrasts are easy - pretty much any yellow or brown will contrast nicely with any blue or green. But 2 blue-greens...
