Deborah! The clutch is just darling! Thanks so much for posting a pic!

A soft clutch made from "Glorious Garden." This is one fat quarter of Spoonflower Kona cotton. No cutting involved, just folding, pressing and stitching. This lovely design has a three-D effect and was a joy to study while working with it. I added a vintage button for a small accent although this design really does not need any accent at all.

It prints up pretty nicely. The black isn't as black as it shows on the monitor but other than that, it looks fab (to me). And thanks Sklater!

Thanks Simboko, the orange-y fruit are from a strawberry tree and they run the gamut from yellow/golden to orange at this time of year.
Pavlova, yes, the depth comes from scanning, something that I've never been able to get out of a photograph.
This is fantastic! Love out the orange fruit (?) emerges out of the black.
Wonderful depth, light & texture. Perfect colouring-the fruits make this.
Thanks Sammyk! LOL, it does look edible doesn't it? I almost used crookneck squash blossoms which would have made it semi-edible. You don't want to eat those strawberry tree fruit tho, not edible even tho they look so yummy. Go eat something healthy and don't eat fabric!
This is so beautiful, vo! I don't know why but it keeps reminding me of a gourmet edible salad of flowers. It makes me hungry, what can I say? You have a knack for tasty looking fabrics. This is simply dreamy!!
Thanks girls! Jillian, I've been thinking about messing with it and turning it into a faux oil painting. Because it does (to me) already look painterly.
Perfect specimens perfectly placed! Almost looks like a painting.
Not only in the same vein - but from the same tree too!! How funny =) Oooo Tropical tradewinds sultry! You honor me with your lovely lingo!
Francinie, I think we were both thinking in the same vein. Yours is tropical tradewinds sultry and mine is nighttime european. And thanks.
I did something similar but yours is way more sophisticated. Fantastic colors and repeat!
Me too with the purple and green, and the golden orange of the strawberry tree fruit helps brighten in the dark. I can't wait to see all the entries together.
I love this color combination. I'm a big fan of purple and green together; and the touch of contrast provided by the strawberry fruit is just perfect.
Nice job! I'm so amazed at how people were able to create such lovely designs with this challenge!
i agree, so so beautiful, glorious colour, it does look really magical, a secret garden full of fairy folk that play amongst the flowers at night, fantastic!
Rachel, the colors remind me of those Trompe L'Oeil painting of flowers, vegetables, game and candles…know what I’m talking about? Sharon and Sammy, thanks for the beauty comments! Kelly, the background helped it pop a lot, and so did the 3-D effect of scanning against a dark background. Kelly DL, drama! My middle name – much to my chagrin. Cean, Elves, brownies and sprites just might be hiding behind the berries! Patty, That flowy business was a pain in the patootie as I tried to scan everything without having the vine portion take over. Glad it still has flow to it!
Rhonda, the black background really helps set the mood doesn't it? I picked the flowers at dusk so they were about at the end of their life and the strawberry fruit - there was only about a dozen left on the tree (lucky for me).
Simply stunning, vo! I love how flowy everything is and your colors turned out so vibrant!
This is bewitching. I can almost see an elf peeking out of the beautifully colored foiliage. Wonderful layout and subjects!
Very dramatic and lovely.
oh my goodness! I love it. I love the dark background, like a garden at midnight - looks so dreamlike! who'd-a-thunk (once again) we'd get such pretty designs from such a prosaic-seeming contest!
oh this is beautiful..... just gorgeous xxx
tremendous looks like an awesome retro print has come to life. love the colors.
The dark background enhances the feeling of flowers glowing in the evening light. I love the plant colours and shapes that you have used, Vo.
