cute and great idea
So nice to get such positive feedback, thank you ikki_pokki and rhondadesigns!
Woo-hoo! Kelly, he looks such a clever little fellow! I love him!
This is really great kdl! I love how you've arranged it, to get the most out of the fabric. It look lovely on the pocket or bib of a little girls' jumper.
Thanks Victoria, here's the paper version...so minus the stitching.
Thank you, rhondadesigns, I also created a layout to fit 5 owls, but this one is more clearly defined.
This is a good layout, Kelly. It is set out across the fat quarter so that each owl's bits clearly belong together.
Good idea, victoria, check out the updated layout, can get 4 appliques to a fat quarter.
If you put several designs on a fat quarter you can lay them out in a way that precludes anyone getting a complete applique on a test swatch.
Thanks for the tip, victoria and rhondadsigns, it makes a great template to use over again, after you use the swatch. I'm also working on putting several applique designs on a fat quarter, perhaps 4 to 5. Applique collections on 21 x 18 may be a better contest theme!
I think this is a great idea, Kelly. However, I do agree with Victoria about the need for designers to be paid for swatches to make it viable. After all, we have to pay for swatches to proof designs.
Cute as can be, and a great way to use scraps. If Spoonflower did it as a contest they would have to figure out a way for the designers to get paid for a swatch. I wouldn't make this for sale, just sell it yourself.
I created this as a pattern for my fabric scraps. Applique of an owl on an 8" x 8" swatch. This would be a fun contest theme.
