Collection: Rocky Mountain Naturals
I love all things natural; birds, fish, flowers, bugs, dirt, you name it! I love to create things with paint, paper and fabric, and I am delighted to be able to add surface fabric design to my list of joys.

My entry into the Beetle contest.
Represented here are a Western Hercules Beetle, a Cobalt Milkweed Beetle, a common Cucumber Beetle, and an Ironclad Beetle. Also, the background and the patterns in the piece of wood represent tracks (called galleries) made by the adults to raise the larval stage of the beetles, which can sometimes be quite beautiful! (The tracks, not the larvae! Unless you happen to be an entomologist.)
Milkweed is a critical food for the Cobalt Milkweed Beetle, as well as for many other insects including the disappearing Monarch Butterfly.

Thank you so much, Julie! That is the "Ironclad Beetle" - what a great name, right? Like something out of a video game.

Great combination of illustrations! I especially like the illustration with the blue background!
Thank you so much, Christine! You are so kind! I am so glad that you like it.
I knew I would love your Beetle Design! I can't wait to see how your Rocky Mountain Naturals collection all comes together:)
Thank you Tina! You are SO very sweet!!!! I am slowly building up my Rocky Mountain Naturals collection...more to come!
I love all the colors and textures! The layout is fantastic! I love the whole collection!
Thank you Penny! Thank you Amy! I was sort of surprised to find that a lot of beetles ARE kind of beautiful! I did not illustrate the infamous Mountain Pine beetle, as it is kind of blah - looking.
Lisa, this is so lovely....you managed to make beetles look beautiful! What a quilt this would make, an entomologist's dream! :o)
Beautiful Beetles Lisa, looks great!!!
Thank you so very much Sylvie and Rhonda! I love seeing "overnight" comments from my Aussie friends when I first wake up in the morning!
Super design. I really like the way you've laid it out!
I like the eye-pleasing format that you have used to display your beautifully illustrated beetles, Lisa! This would be a great print to make into a cheater quilt or to include as feature pieces in a patchwork quilt!:-)
