Once upon a time I used to teach how to do computer-aided textile design... fell out of it for several years, may dabble in it again, we'll see.

Inspired by crochet & embroidery work inherited from my Great Grandma, I scanned & manipulated the pieces to create a border print that stretches up to 58" wide. I'd love to make a skirt out of this, so I used one of my favorite bold graphic colorways- black/white/red. Design can also be scaled down to fit more into a shorter 42" width.

Very nice! Would be great as a skirt!
Posted almost 6 years ago.
very nice! the scanning works really well, and I never would have thought to do it in black and red, but it looks fab! also, your swatch does a good job pretending to be a skirt. ;o)
Awesome print - I would love a skirt in that!
What my quilting weight swatch looks like when it pretended to be a skirt this afternoon. This was printed at 337 dpi.

Thanks, green & red is a good idea. I'll wait to see how this one prints.
Sandra good luck tomorrow! and I would really love to see what this would look like red and dk green on white background, when my daughter was 3 she had a cute little smocked christmas gown, red green on white it was so sweet had xmas trees in the smocking this just reminded me of her dress
You have created a beautiful, modern fabric design from the family heirloom lace motif. When it is approached from a different perspective, everything old is new again. The black, white and red colour combination works very well.
Great design! It will make a fantastic skirt!
Don't you just love honoring grammee's I use some of my grandmas stuff in my designs. It's nice to see you incorporate a long lost art into your design. no one crochets dollies anymore. very nice I'd love to see it with the black changed to green for the holidays! Best wishes in the contest
Great design. Doilies in black instead of the more usual white or ecru really revs up the visual interest. Great design. Also, great idea to size the design for the widest fabric since it can always be sized down.
Bold and delicate all at the same time; very nice!
A cropped detail for a sneak peek on my blog. Will write more about my inspirations & process in my contest post this Thursday.
