ttoz

ttoz says: Okay, Sammyk, I tried to upload a pic of the tie, but I'm not sure that the link is working so I'll try again later -- but I did post it in the Spoonflower flickr pool and I'll email you the files so maybe you'll have better luck?!

Posted almost 6 years ago.

sammyk

sammyk says: Yes, yes, a tie! Please upload your pic, ttoz! I actually based this camo pattern's orange-red tone exactly on my little ladybug from the Bugtastic design since it printed up so nice and juicy. Can't wait to see your tie!

ttoz

ttoz says: Ooh--I'd SO do a tie! Have you seen my "Bugtastic" tie yet?! I need to load a picture for you...!

sammyk

sammyk says: Thanks, ttoz, waevingmajor, sparegus, lela2210, kgalal, acbeilke and victorialasher!! It means a great deal that you all enjoy this so much! I wasn't sure which way to go with this challenge and opted for a more quiet approach and I'm thrilled that you like it. Glad you can see applications for it, too; a blouse would be AWESOME! I'm now wondering about lining one of my husband's coats in it; he likes this pattern a lot so it just might happen! :)

lulakiti

lulakiti says: You're right, SammyK! That is MUCH better! :) As for the taste of lady bugs - they are surprisingly sour. Ick.

weaving...

weavingmajor says: wow, this is excellent. simple, spare, clean, but full of whimsy. and using it on the inside of a jacket or purse or whatever would be fabulous: adding to the unexpected surprise feel of the image.

Posted almost 6 years ago.

ttoz

ttoz says: Awesome camo -- I love these little ladies...er, I mean a good polka-dot fabric! Though now I'll be double checking my drinks and I don't think I'll look at tic-tacs the same again...

Posted almost 6 years ago.

sammyk

sammyk says: Woohoo, thanks, guys! Whoa, Cean, Charley Harper...what an honor to be compared to him! kdl, uzumakijo, annosch, vo, pattysloniger, inscribed_here: so glad you all love the little ladies! Yes, decobot, victoria, babysisterrae: hahaha, you're right; it's very 'buzzy' on the eyes if you look too long; those ladies are truckin' it across the fabric. And lulakiti, I'd like to imagine that ladybugs taste like strawberry, but I keep reverting back to a crunchy tic-tac-like sensation but without the breath freshening element. I'm just going to think of you as part-magical lady bug; doesn't that sound a bit better!? :)

Posted almost 6 years ago.

ceanirm...

ceanirminger says: This is just a perfect camo. It is reminding me of Charley Harper (my favorite designer), though it is totally original and fresh. And as lady bugs are a beneficial insect and an ally in our garden's organic fight against invading hoards of plant eating vermin, I am so happy to see them celebrated in a more sophisticated, not overly cute way. Bravo!

kdl

kdl says: I love ladybugs, and your design! Really great.

Posted almost 6 years ago.

uzumakijo

uzumakijo says: hey sammy - totally fabulous as always - love ladybirds, love polka dots, love ladybird dotty camouflage. supercool! i think this is probably the most appropiate camo design i've seen yet! genius move!

Posted almost 6 years ago.

annosch

annosch says: I love, love, love ladybugs. Ok, I do not see any! But in a skirt made of this stuff I would feel like one. Very pretty and suitable for older girls (like me)!

Posted almost 6 years ago.

vo_aka_...

vo_aka_virginiao says: Fabulously done. I love this fabric.

Posted almost 6 years ago.

jillian...

jillianmorris says: Really neat how easy it is for the eye to form the whole oval body after spotting the bug parts! Nicely done design, it is fun to space out at :).

Posted almost 6 years ago.

lulakiti

lulakiti says: Oh - and can I also just tell you, since I just admitted to my great fish phobia on Ttoz's thread, that I HATE lady bugs?! Our house used to get infested with them every summer. Once you have TASTED a lady bug floating in your drink, the romance for them kind of dies... but I still love this design! :) Which speaks volumes of how swell it is that it does not traumatize me. Ha ha.

Posted almost 6 years ago.

lulakiti

lulakiti says: It would also be a great "inside fabric" - I mean, like the inside of a back pack or baby carrier or stroller or something... you know what I mean? Perhaps not the main component because it is too strong - but a complimentary and still more eye catching fabric to make an item that much more exciting.

victori...

victorialasher says: Of course it's moving, it's alive!! Brilliant design, great take on the theme, I love it. I think it would be a wonderful t-shirt.

Posted almost 6 years ago.

lulakiti

lulakiti says: HA! Yes, it is a wee bit painful on the eyes if you stare too much. But it would also make a fabulous skirt!

Posted almost 6 years ago.

babysis...

babysisterrae says: really tricky, can't look at it too long or the dots start moving!

Posted almost 6 years ago.

inscrib...

inscribed_here says: Wonderful idea, nicely executed.

Posted almost 6 years ago.

pattysl...

pattysloniger says: Fabulous design solution, very clever!

Posted almost 6 years ago.

lulakiti

lulakiti says: Oh my - totally fabulous. This is the kind o' camo I was envisioning should I have actually done anything for this contest. I LOVE IT! Bravo!!!
