I love to knit, and one of my tricks for putting down the knitting and doing a bit of design work is to base it around knitting. This is an abstracted stockinette stitch (with colorwork!) made from cut paper.
I used four different papers: a wooly looking heather gray, some green bits from a picture book (from Salvation Army), turquoise pastel paper, and tracing vellum (this is the background, and I cut little windows in it to reveal the turquoise paper).
This could be printed on a weave or a knit; I think it would be a cute little joke either way!
