Twenty-four hours before the July 2010 Paper Collage themed fabric of the week contest was due to close I had no intention of entering, no designs up my sleeve, and ever so important laundry to do. I hadn&rsquo;t even considered attempting it as, with nerve and tendon damage as well as arthritis in my hand, sharp things and I really don&rsquo;t get on. However, at the eleventh hour, I decided the laundry could go hang itself; I was going to have a stab at it this collage thing.<p><p> This design was done purely for my own pleasure. I hummed Donovan&rsquo;s song Happiness Runs for most of the time I was making it.<p><p> Lately I&rsquo;ve been experimenting with non-traditional colourways for nautical designs, my favourite theme. Here&rsquo;s one I haven&rsquo;t played with before. These little boats are trying hard to navigate rocky waters. Sometimes in the spotlight, sometimes in the dark. Mostly they&rsquo;re managing to find their way but occasionally one is going to come a little too close to the rocks. As with life, it isn&rsquo;t all smooth sailing.
