Hatching chickens, raising sunflowers, electricity, and the ubiquitous volcano are the science displays depicted in this science fair patchwork.
I admit, that I have never participated in, or seen a school science fair. I question if any of the schools I went to ever held one. But I don't question whether crafts stores sell kits to create a science fair volcano. I have seen those. I sort of think it is cheating to buy a science fair kit and put it together for a contest. Where is the thinking in that? You don't even have to source your own parts. At least I drew my own hatching chickens, sunflowers, light bulbs, and volcanoes. No kit here in this cheater quilt fabric.

Oh, this made me laugh when I saw it in the contest. I spent spring break making volcanoes with two of my grandsons -- not for a science fair, just for fun. Beautiful design and I like the diagonal feel of it.
I love the funky, irregularly - shaped cheater "squares"! Such a fun and creative design, and your jewel - like colors are vivid and so beautiful.
Gorgeously drawn, colored and created - and hilariously titled!
