CLICK on the second thumbnail under the design image for a crisp, clear, swatch view. The third thumbnail shows how this printed on silky faille, the fourth compares silky faille (left) with cotton-silk (larger scale, right); and the fifth shows it printed on faux suede (with thanks to Carrie, designer hrhusagi on Spoonflower).
Moonstones and labradorite are two of the less well known semi-precious gemstones and both have wonderful color transformations - sitting on the cusp of white-pink-blue and blue-green-gray colors (although labradorite also comes in a pink version and its chemical composition is so complex it has many other colors to offer in different circumstances). Both are really too soft to wear in everyday jewelery so I like to think that fabric would be the perfect venue for them. This is of course, a complete fantasy!

Thanks so much for your lovely comment Victoria, much appreciated. This is one design where the illusion of metallics really does work - and I've always thought it would be totally functional in costuming as you would save so much weight.

This is scrumptious, it looks like you've really managed to capture a metallic appearance.
Wow! That looks amazing Carrie - thank you so much for sharing the faux suede print! I had a really close look and the printed detail - especially in the filigree - is amazing, that is such an excellent fabric for printing.

I bought swatches of this design on several fabrics. I love all of them, but the faux suede is particularly stunning. Wanted to let you see how it looked. The color is rich and the texture is incredible!

Such an amazing design and it looks so beautiful on both fabrics!
Comparing the print on two different fabrics: silky faille on the left (smaller scale) and cotton-silk on the right (at a larger scale), both nice. The cotton-silk gives a softer print and beautiful color depth I think; the silky faille gives brighter color and a slightly crisper print.

Thanks so much Shirley! Your comment made me smile as I pictured your ballgown (and maybe super-duper platform heels...). This printed so beautifully on both the silky faille and the cotton-silk that I would love to see it in such a glamorous use! It would certainly be totally unique.
This is such an awe inspiring design that I am left speechless. I want it as a glorious evening gown especially when I grow another 12 inches. I would be so confident in such a gown.
Thanks so much Latasha and Pat, really appreciate your fabulous comments!
LOL...I am always late to the party Su....this is a GLORIOUS design!
I just love this design. The colouring too.
Proofing swatch on silky faille - and at the same scale as currently showing (daylight photo).
Thanks very much Jan, Paula, Amy, Maaike and Ceri for your positive comments and feedback on this design and the collection. It's great to know that the variations in the motif coloring work to give some dimension to it, and I'm glad that it hits the spot with other labradorite admirers - it really is one of my favorite semi-precious gems. I'm getting this proofed on cotton-silk (so wonderful to have the new proofing options!) so fingers crossed (should be just another ten days or so now...).
So gorgeous Su. I can imagine this design working really well in a skirt.
What a wonderful colors! I also love the three dimensional effect created by the shadows.
I just love this whole collection, Su!!! Labradorite is one of my favs!!!
Beautiful design Su, best of luck, I love it!
Beautiful! I like that you chose to feature labradorite, too - a fascinating stone that isn't well-known.
Thanks Sue Ellen - I think! How it turned out was another of those happy accidents - or rather a series of them... I started out to design a breastplate... but ended up with a motif that reminds me of the way some cultures wear their valuables... and do imagine this used for theater and costuming (Medieval etc.).
Well, Su, when you said you were going to try to pull something together for this contest, you didn't mention that you were going to produce something so spectacularly beautiful!!
Hi Dinorah and thanks so much for your nice comment, much appreciated!
Lovely! : )
Thanks so much Lisa and Celia for your nice comments - very much appreciated! Thanks to everyone who has faved this design too!
Really nice layering effect and so much careful detail, Su!
OH!!! Thank you so very much: Penny, Tina, Shelly, Rhonda, Jasmin, Jill, Julie, Kelly, Carrie and Wren for your wonderful comments and so helpful feedback! Rhonda I love the idea of this used for belly dancing costuming, a great idea. I do feel costuming is its natural direction... Thanks again everyone, it was a great way to start my day reading your comments!
So pretty in yardage.
This fabric is so gorgeous! I can't wait to be able to buy it and make something beautiful.
beautiful gems and a lovely pattern!
So beautiful! I love the detail in the swatch view especially the texture in the gold filigree!
Your painting is beautiful! Great design:)
Beautiful. So dimensional and lovely rich colouring. The way you've painted the gems is just stunning. Love it.
Your gorgeous design looks as though it would make a soft, swooshy, tinkling sound as it moved. It makes me think of ornately beaded belly dance costumes. Swirling veils, glittery vests, flaring skirts, beaded belts and hip scarves would all showcase the print in a spectacular fashion, Su!
And the close up details are gorgeous!
Incredible! I'm imagining this will do as well as the eggs!
Wow this is really beautiful Su, I love it!!!
Thanks very much Vannina and Helene for your wonderful comments and feedback! I started this design with an idea for a breastplate but got sidetracked along the way as it took on its own life... and I so love your comment Helene that it reminds you of medieval painting and clothing - that's exactly where I felt it was going too, and if I was doing a mockup that's the sort of clothing I would put it in! Thanks again, much appreciated!

What a fabulous design Su!!!
It reminds me the background of middle age painting and the velvet clothes peeople wore at this time! It´s like a wonderful return to the past :-)
Wonderful design and collection!
Thanks so much Alex, Lori, Joan, Vo, Deborah and Lia for your lovely comments! Sure has cheered up my morning (otherwise gray, damp, drizzly....) - thanks again!
Moonstone, one of my favorites! Amazing design!
Absolutely beautiful, Su. Bravo!!!
Oh, totally gorgeous Su!
Lots of great textures and colors. I can see this one as costumes on stage. You've given these lesser known stones an opportunity to shine. Lovely!
The yard view has so much depth and luminosity. Really pretty, Su!
Nice choices! I love moonstones and lapiz beautiful colour combination Su!!
