By day I am an upstanding mosaic designer for New Ravenna Mosaics on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. By night I am a superdork drawing whatever weird things pop into my head. By morning I'm exhausted.

Description:

A boisterous bouquet of beauteous blossoms, brimming with busy bumblebees buzzing about the benevolent, brassy and bewildered buds.

ceanirminger says: thanks so much rikkib,paragon_studios and ttoz! I had fun making all the flower faces I made sure to put a couple in there that could give those bees a run for the money!

victorialasher says: Cean, whichever one of us gets around to joining the Procrastinators Club first can nominate the other for an honorary membership. I love the idea of sitting at my kitchen table with you.

inscrib...

inscribed_here says: I've always loved hydrangeas but yours have something a little extra - teeth! So cute and clever as always with wonderful use of the provided colour palette.

ceanirm...

ceanirminger says: Thanks Victoria and Patty! Victoria, you have to keep drawing your amazing fabrics or else I'll come find you and sit you down at the kitchen table and not let you leave the table until it's done! (Can you tell I procrastinated on schoolwork as a kid?. I'm going to go peek at your pattern right now!

victori...

victorialasher says: This is so wonderful! At first glance it"s a beautiful bunch of Hydrangeas with cute little bees; and it could win just on that. But when you really look at it; wowwee-zowwee! Absolutely brilliant! (I don't know why I even bother)

lulakiti

lulakiti says: That is a riot, Cean! I was really excited about both the quilt and the puppet challenges and came in VERY low on both. I've never come in lower than either of those actually... CRAZY. That said, I'll probably tank on this one which I was not excited about... Ha ha.

ceanirm...

ceanirminger says: Thanks so much, everyone! I'm fighting the eleventh hour bug that has me wanting to go in and mess with faces and colors, etc. Dang these last minute jitters! And thanks for the sweet vote of confidence, uzumakijo, but the only thing this one has going for it is that I really didn't want to do it! That seems to be the magic charm my patterns need to do well. I'm really looking forward to cut paper, so I'm expecting to place in the 100's-110's for that one.

weaving...

weavingmajor says: hee hee! this is wonderful. like lulakiti I feel like you found a design that showcases the colors, like they found your design and used the eyedropper tool to make the palette! very fun. I like it that all the flowers have personalities.

ceanirm...

ceanirminger says: Thanks so much, Decobot and lulakiti! you know, I was thinking the same thing, lulakiti. I drew up another idea that was totally lame and kept thinking about hydrangeas, then when I drew this up and was coloring it was working perfectly...a little too perfectly. I think there are going to be 6,000 hydrangea patterns in this contest, but I am too tired to change themes now!

lulakiti

lulakiti says: I wanted to add that looking at this, I feel like this is the exact pattern SF had in mind when they picked the color palette. It is SO perfect! I am continually blown away by your skills!

lulakiti

lulakiti says: Beautiful! :) (Trying to continue with the "B" theme you got goin') I particularly love the little yelling flowers.

jillian...

jillianmorris says: I am afraid of bees and wasps, but yours are adorable. I wouldn't mind if one landed on me. I love all the tiny flower faces the most! I thought they were just texture at first. Wonderfully detailed!
